Ignite Creativity: Support Our Arts Education Campaign Today!

It is time for school to begin! And we know the arts are an important part of a student’s experience in school. Arts Education is a path to lifelong learning and knowledge of self and culture. It supports healthy social development and quality of a young person’s life and prepares them for success in the workplace.

Nebraskans for the Arts advocates for arts education by creating the narrative and sharing the powerful stories of excellence in the arts. NFTA sponsors the NebraskARTS award each year, which is given to two school districts representing excellence in the fine and performing arts. NFTA also spotlights individual students who are making a difference through the arts and is currently developing a new professional development program to assist arts educators in building advocacy capacity and engagement.

We need your help! Your financial support will be crucial to the success of our ARTS EDUCATION CAMPAIGN. A gift of any amount will make a significant difference in NFTA’s capacity to support arts educators’ professional development, NebraskARTS awards, and student recognition.

A key part of Nebraskans for the Arts’ mission and vision is advancing arts opportunities for all of Nebraska’s students and advancing the belief that creativity is a crucial component of a well-rounded education.

We have several programs that really help this cause shine.

Spotlight on Student Achievements in the Arts

This is a monthly “Student Spotlight” on a student or group of students in high school or college doing amazing things in the arts. They are success stories of their educators, their schools, and their families. We shine the light on them in the media, our website, to their state senators, their school administration, and their school board.

NebraskARTS Award

Each year, Nebraskans for the Arts will honor a Nebraska school board or board member, administrator, or teacher who has supported and encouraged achievement in the visual arts, dance, media arts, theater, or music.

Arts Advantage

We asked successful professionals, in and out of the arts, what a solid K-12 arts education meant to them. It gave them, as we call it, an “Arts Advantage.” It’s a leg up in all those oblique and direct skills garnered from an arts education.

Poetry Out Loud

Nebraskans for the Arts proudly partners with the Nebraska Arts Council to host the regional competitions for Nebraska’s Poetry Out Loud recitation program. Come to one of the competitions – these kids will knock your socks off!

NEW!   Arts Educators Professional Development

Strengthening the Arts: Vision & Action is a professional development curriculum that aims at helping arts educators promote their programs in schools and communities. Arts educators will walk through steps to clearly define their vision and goals while also considering practical, actionable steps to achieving those goals and gaining assets. The focus of this programming is to encourage arts educators to recognize the strengths they already have as assets, and to use those assets to promote their vision to school and community stakeholders to procure support, funding, and/or recognition. This is the perfect program for arts educators wanting to elevate their program within their school and beyond!
